SimaRecord for Chrome Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 9, 2026 · Developer: Simarahitam Technologies

SimaRecord for Chrome is a local-first recording extension. It records only when you explicitly start a recording and grant Chrome's capture permission. Microphone and camera access are requested only when you enable those options.

Information the Extension Handles

SimaRecord for Chrome may handle:

How Information Is Used

This information is used only to provide recording, compositing, editing, export, download, local recording history, product quality measurement, and user-requested support features.

Recordings and preferences are processed locally in Chrome by default. SimaRecord for Chrome does not upload your recordings to a server, create share links, or use cloud AI processing unless you explicitly choose to use WinRec AI critique.

If you use WinRec AI critique, SimaRecord creates a temporary review copy of your selected recording in your browser. You may choose to remove editor overlays and draw blur regions before upload. That review copy is uploaded to temporary Cloudflare R2 storage, analysed with Gemini, and deleted by the backend after analysis. The critique text may be stored for product functionality, troubleshooting, usage limits, or future critique history features.

The anonymous install hash is generated from a random local install identifier and is used only to estimate unique installs, measure feature usage, and understand product reliability. It is not used to identify you personally.

Telemetry does not include recordings, microphone audio, uploaded music files, uploaded card images, branding assets, overlay text, webcam video, screenshots, page URLs, page titles, browsing history, website content, form inputs, passwords, IP addresses for analytics, precise location, payment information, or authentication credentials. You can turn telemetry off in the extension popup by disabling "Help improve with privacy-safe usage diagnostics."

If you submit an issue report from the extension or uninstall feedback from the uninstall page, the report is sent to SimaRecord support and may be forwarded to our issue tracker, Bugasura, so we can investigate and respond. Screenshots are optional and may include visible page or app content if you choose to attach them.

Data Sharing

SimaRecord for Chrome does not sell personal data. It does not share recordings, microphone audio, webcam video, browsing history, or page content with third parties except when you explicitly submit an issue report/uninstall feedback or explicitly use WinRec AI critique. WinRec review videos are processed by infrastructure providers such as Cloudflare and Google Gemini solely to generate the critique.

The extension links to simarecord.pro for information about SimaRecord Pro for Mac and to SimaRecord on X for product updates. Opening those links is optional and happens only when you click them.

Data Storage and Deletion

Recordings are stored locally in your browser's IndexedDB until you delete them from Recording History or clear the extension/browser data. Downloaded files are stored wherever Chrome saves downloads and can be deleted from your computer.

Preferences are stored locally in Chrome extension storage and can be cleared by removing the extension or clearing extension data.

Issue reports, uninstall feedback, and optional screenshots are stored in SimaRecord's support systems and issue tracker for troubleshooting. To request deletion of a submitted support report, contact SimaRecord support with enough detail for us to identify the report.

Telemetry is stored as aggregate counters, anonymous unique-install counts, and recent sanitized events for product reliability and usage analysis. It is associated with a random local install identifier, not your name or email address.

WinRec review videos are intended to be temporary and are deleted after analysis. A storage lifecycle rule may also delete abandoned uploads as a safety backup. Critique text may be retained if needed to provide critique history, account usage, support, or product improvement.

Permissions

SimaRecord for Chrome requests Chrome permissions needed to record tabs, screens, and windows; process recordings in an offscreen document; inject in-page recording controls after you start recording; store local preferences and recordings; and download exports. Microphone and camera extension permissions are used only when you enable those features.

SimaRecord uses broad host access so that recording controls, cursor effects, annotations, click tracking, and auto-zoom can continue working when a recorded tab navigates to another page or website during an active recording. The in-page tracker remains dormant unless you have started a recording and a fresh local recording lock exists for the recorded tab.

The extension does not use host access to collect browsing history, page URLs, page titles, page content, form data, passwords, or website content, and it does not transmit browsing data.

Limited Use Disclosure
